Terhi Tuominen (b. 1979) has studied furniture design in both London Metropolitan University and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Currently based in Finland, she has been running the design agency, Dayground, since 2006, working on projects in the fields of furniture design, interior architecture, as well as exhibition and event design for clients varying from advertising agencies and law firms to retail spaces. Terhi was awarded the Young Designer of the Year in Finland 2009, and her design Blackbird received the reddot design award: honourable mention in 2008. In 2010 she had her first Solo exhibition in Japan. This mesh covered steel beauty, called ‘Blackbird’. Whether you install it inside or out on the terrace, this is one bird you’ll never tire of watching.’ Wallpaper, Sep 2006 CENTERPOINT ‘With its simple and sober line, we like the lamp presented by the Finn Terhi Tuominem, both in the center-piece version and in the floor version. Despite the rigorous and thin geometries, the light brakes forth warm and soft referring to the atmospheres, so explains Terhi, having inspired the project: ‘Centerpoint reminds me of moments of life, of thoughts and memories of sitting around the log fires during those long summer nights at the Finnish countryside. Terhi Tuominen (b. 1979) has studied furniture design in both London Metropolitan University and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Currently based in Finland, she has been running the design agency, Dayground, since 2006, working on projects in the fields of furniture design, interior architecture, as well as exhibition and event design for clients varying from advertising agencies and law firms to retail spaces.

Terhi was awarded the Young Designer of the Year in Finland 2009, and her design Blackbird received the reddot design award: honourable mention in 2008. In 2010 she had her first Solo exhibition in Japan.

Whether you install it inside or out on the terrace, this is one bird you’ll never tire of watching.’ Wallpaper, Sep 2006 CENTERPOINT ‘With its simple and sober line, we like the lamp presented by the Finn Terhi Tuominem, both in the center-piece version and in the floor version. Despite the rigorous and thin geometries, the light brakes forth warm and soft referring to the atmospheres, so explains Terhi, having inspired the project: ‘Centerpoint reminds me of moments of life, of thoughts and memories of sitting around the log fires during those long summer nights at the Finnish countryside.
